The City of Lake Mary was incorporated on 7th August 1973 and was named after the wife of the minister Maj. William Randolph. In the beginning, Lake Mary started as a village and included two small settlements called Belle Fontaine and Bent's Station. These settlements were along the railroad that ran between Orlando and Sanford. In the late eighties and early nineties the city experienced a tremendous growth in its economical and residential development and this evolution continues these days also.

The city of Lake Mary is one of the fastest growing areas in Central Florida. The city also offers several recreational activities.
